For well over 100 years AEIC
has played a key roll in placing electric power at the
vital center of the nation. Thomas Edison, (founder of
the Association in 1885), and the Association of Edison
Illuminating Companies were pioneers in establishing the
electric power industry in the United States. As small
central stations began springing up all over the country
in the early 1880s, the Association came into existence
because there were innumerable problems to be solved. It
was only natural that men running this infant industry
would turn to each other for information and mutual
assistance.

One of the Most
Important and Distinguished Associations
in the World.
AEIC is one of the oldest associations to be
affiliated with the electric energy industry. It
continues as an important organization and encourages
research and the exchange of technical information. It
accomplishes this through a committee structure, staffed
with experts from management of the member companies.
Through the committees, the Association provides a forum
for exchange of information and interchange of ideas and
solutions to succeed in the ever-changing electric
industry. It also provides highly valued literature on
load research and underground cable specifications.
Through the committees, the member companies have
developed a unity directed toward their main objective --
business success.
